Integrative medicine is the merging of both traditional “eastern” medicine with more modern “western” medicine to create a treatment plan that is unique to the individual patient with the goal of finding health and wellness, not just creating the absence of disease. During your comprehensive consultation, Dr. Ashleigh will explore all of the aspects of your life that ultimately create your health. Through fully understanding you as a whole, she will better be able to design a treatment plan to address the underlying condition(s) or symptom(s) you wish to improve.

Possible treatment recommendations may include a variety of the following: nutrition & dietary guidance, elimination or addition of certain food groups; exercise program; recommendations to maximize sleep, sleep hygiene, sleep restriction, etc; meditation & mindfulness practice; supplements; prescriptions, including compounded medications; health and life coaching; acupuncture; manual therapies including OMT, massage, physical therapy; biofeedback; and many others.

The vast majority of chronic (long-standing) conditions would benefit in some way from integrative medicine:

  • Metabolic: obesity/overweight, type 2 diabetes, prediabetes
  • Mood: anxiety, depression, chronic stress, feeling restless or unfulfilled in life
  • Pain: fibromyalgia, migraines, complex regional pain syndrome, neuropathy, other pain conditions such as chronic low back pain
  • Gastrointestinal: reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, undiagnosed symptoms (bloating, constipation, diarrhea, nausea)
  • Cardiovascular: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, premature atrial or ventricular contractions)
  • Autoimmune: rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis
  • Women’s health: dysmenorrhea (painful periods), perimenopause, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
